I’m a freelance, working-class director and facilitator based in the South of England. My work and interests span multiple genres, from new writing and adaptations to musicals and international playwrighting. At the heart are often stories that explore the messiness and joy of humanity in all its complexity. I’m drawn to theatre that speaks about ordinary people and the world we live in, work that entertains and connects but isn’t afraid to grapple with difficult questions. Collaboration is central to my work; often working with movement directors and sound designers to build physical and multi-layered experiences.

I also have extensive experience, and a real passion, for co-creating theatre with young people, ensuring their voices and perspectives are central to the work.

I am currently on the Board of Trustees for the Corn Exchange Theatre in Newbury. Most recently I created and oversaw the PROPEL Artist Development programme at Mayflower Studios & Theatre in Southampton delivering programmes and initiatives that supported artists and the development of new work.

As a director and Associate Director I have presented work in various theatres and arts festivals including The Rose Theatre, The Egg, Royal and Derngate, The National Theatre, Disney Live Entertainment, Mayflower Theatre & Studios, The Kings Theatre, Taunton Brewhouse Theatre, The Corn Exchange, Newbury, International Youth Arts Festival and Camden Fringe Festival.

“Josh and I have worked together on many productions and last year I had the privilege or having Josh as my director on The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe at The Corn Exchange, Newbury.

Josh is one of the most kind, generous, hardworking people I have ever had the privilege of working with. Josh is a problem solver and super positive, and very trusting. Josh loves to work hard and gets real job satisfaction for that. He works well under pressure and in consistent with that no matter what obstacles are in his path. He will never let you down and will go above and beyond to make people happy. Josh always puts a smile on everyone’s face as well as everyone else on the team. He was always well loved by everyone and has a heart of gold.

Josh was always on time when delivering deadlines and was a friendly face when we arrived on a project no matter how early the call time was. Josh worked so well with the young members of the company and they trusted him. Josh is an imaginative person and very creative so easy to work with. I look forward to working with Josh again.”
